he Carle Subacute Center, located behind The Carle Arbours,
is a 42-bed unit fully licensed by the State of Illinois and is Medicare certified. Carle
began offering subacute services in February, 1997, in conjunction with the Illinois
Department of Public Health Subacute Care Hospital Demonstration Project. The Carle
Subacute Center was developed for people who no longer require hospitalization, yet still
need comprehensive medical care or rehabilitation before returning home.
Carle is one of thirteen facilities participating in the Illinois Department of Public
Health Subacute Care Hospital Demonstration Project. This project was developed to assess
the viability of this level of service as well as its cost efficacy. Carle has been
participating in this demonstration project for more than two years, and now offers the
first program of its kind in Central Illinois.
Subacute services are provided by a team of skilled professionals, including physical,
occupational, and speech therapists, registered nurses, pain management specialists,
nutritionists, social workers, counselors and discharge planners. This team works together
to design a plan of treatment which addresses the care needs of each patient, promoting a
quick recovery and return home.
